The Best Fishing Grounds

Is fishing your game? Come join us in the beautiful and natural surroundings of the Kern River Valley for some great fishing on Lake Isabella. Your day starts with an early morning breakfast at the lodge located on the Onyx Ranch. 67,000 acres established in 1877.

You will then proceed to Lake Isabella, just a short ten minute drive from the ranch. Your guide, Jerry Scotton, will provide everything necessary for your fishing needs. Lake Isabella has world class trophy size bass. Jerry is the only guide with a special use permit issued by the Sequoia National Forest for Lake Isabella. Tell Your Friends.

After a full morning of fishing, you will be brought back to shore. A day camp retreat will have already been set up for you to relax and enjoy lunch while telling fish stories from your morning catch. Next you may choose your afternoon activities. Swimming, water skiing, a tour of the lake, or back out on the fishing grounds to finish off the stringer.


Your day completed on the lake, we will return to the lodge. There, you may relax in the privacy and quiet of the Onyx Ranch. If you prefer, we have many other activities available for your enjoyment. Hike in some beautiful areas. Trap shoot or hunt pheasant at our pheasant club. Play video games, or just kick back and read a book. The choice is yours.

Dinner is served each evening, prepared by Jerry's wife Barbara. Please let us know if you have any special diet needs when making reservations.

We run a very personal service for our guests. We can sleep five to six very comfortably at the lodge.
