Come join us in the beautiful and natural surroundings of the Kern River Valley. The Onyx is one of the original ranches founded in the area, established in the 1800's. Enjoy the wild and scenic Kern River, the vastness of Lake Isabella, and the beauty of the surrounding Sequoia National Forest.

Native birds abound on our 67,000 acres. There are Chucker, Dove, Ducks, and Valley & Mountain Quail. The Kern River Valley was listed by the Department of Fish and Game as the highest population of native birds in southern California.

Non-native birds, Pheasant and Chucker, are released to hunt in natural surrounding grain fields.


Jerry Scotton has been a licensed guide for over 20 years in California. From Monterey County to Santa Cruz island, Jerry has made it his goal to insure each hunter has a memorable and enjoyable experience. Please join Jerry and his wife Barbara for a very personal and enjoyable tradition.
