Back to Event CalendarThe 21st Annual WHITEWATER WEDNESDAY RAFTING JAMBOREE will be held June 18, 2008, in Kernville on the "Wild & Scenic" Kern River. It will be a fun filled day of sunshine, water fights, soggy sneakers and action packed rapids.
On this day only, the Kernville Chamber of Commerce, along with the commercial rafting companies operating on the Kern River will sponsor this exciting event. Guides and equipment will be provided to run the Lickety Split - Class I-III trips for only $27.00 per person, and the Sequoia Splash - Class III-IV trips for only $47.00 per person. A huge reduction in trip expense due to the generous donation of local outfitters. All proceeds go to the Kernville Chamber of Commerce to help fund needy community projects. All trips will be led by professional guides from the outfitters who are contributing their services.
The Lickety Split trip is an inexpensive introduction to whitewater rafting. The run is full of enough lively excitement to challenge just about everyone from youngsters to grandmas. The two-hour Sequoia Splash is a step-up in difficulty from the Lickety and negotiates some of the best Class III-V sections of the Upper Kern River. Trips will start at 9:00 AM and run throughout the day.
Luncheon is included and will be furnished at end of run.
This is a great opportunity to give your employees, customers, family and friends or anyone else you can think of, a great mid-week bonus!! The water will be great this year, but easy enough for first timers. Minimum age is 7 years for the Lickety Split and 16 years for the Sequoia Splash. One does not need to know how to swim. Everyone is required to wear Coast Guard approved life jackets which are provided by the outfitters. Swimsuits, shorts and a pair of old sneakers are the clothes for the day. We guarantee you will get wet!
