| ROBERT NICHOLS Biography |
||
Through his paintings
and sculptures, Robert would like to generate the public awareness to the
environment and the beauty of wildlife and it's habitat.Born and raised in Pasadena, California. earning a scholarship at Pasadena City College, he continued his education at Chouinard Art Institute, studying painting, design and illustration. Using his talents he has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator with his works appearing in many major magazines. He also conceived and developed a series of educational and computer games on the environment. This lead even more to his interest in wildlife and their possible extinction. His paintings reflect a strong graphic dsign/illustration background. Robert looks at each painting as a design. He feels that it's essential that all graphic elements must work together within the proportions of the canvas for a painting to be viable. His paintings push into the realistic area but intentionally will drift into an impressionistic mode sometimes in the same painting setting up a viewer to focus in on the point of interest of the painting. Robert's first show was a "one-man show" on endangered species at the Cypress Gallery in Carmel, California. Since then he has been invited and accepted in several shows where he has gained recognition and received several awards. This year Robert will be one of twenty-five artists invited to participate in the "Wildlife West Art Festival" held in the San Bernardino Museum. |
