RICHARD PRICE
Biography

The types of art work you are viewing are scroll, scroll relief, and intarsia.

Scroll work is the cutting of wood to create a picture all on the same plane. Scroll relief is similar but with different pieces either raised or lowered to create depth.

Intarsia on the other hand is the use of wood or other materials to create a picture with dimension, depth and color. In most of the pieces I have attempted to use natural wood only as much as possible, without the use of stains or paints.

Several of the pieces I am showing are of my own design while others are from patterns from other designers. All pieces are made by me at my home and shop.

I am a self taught artist and craftsman. I originally began to do these types of art about 4 years ago when my father-in-law introduced me to scroll work. I also do custom design woo shell or bone. In creating some of my pieces I have used photos as a base for the pattern I make for each piece.

I make my hoe in Victorville, California, with my wife Ginger. We have 4 children and 1 grandchild. If you wish to contact me please do so as I am usually home every day.
