A recent addition to the lodge is Home Suite Home, a fully appointed luxury suite complete with a Roman Jacuzzi, sitting room, two TV's and private balcony. Home Suite Home could be your memorable honeymoon suite, a romantic anniversary escape, or just an easy excuse to pamper yourself.
You can also choose from our Riverview Bungalows or Country Cottages. Many of these tastefully accented rooms include such convenience features as refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, and even gas barbecue grills on their decks. Every room provides private bath.
Whispering Pines has the high quality facilities and expertise to host your wedding, anniversary, family reunion, or even a business retreat. Copy and FAX machines are on-site if so inclined.

There's no need to rush into the day. After breakfast take a casual stroll through Whispering Pines' flower gardens ablaze with marigolds, gardenias, jasmine and poppies. Discuss the area's wide variety of relaxation or recreational opportunities with family and friends on our expansive patio deck. You may decide to go no further than experiencing the breathtaking vistas of surrounding mountains. . . . .

Then again, the crystal waters of Whispering Pines' palatial pool beckons you to take a dip and relax in the sunshine on it's 1,000 square foot deck, overlooking the wild and scenic Kern River.

Area Activity Abounds

Situated at the foot of the Southern Sierra Mountains of Sequoia National Forest and with Lake Isabella's marinas just minutes away, Whispering Pines' central location can be your jumping off point to numerous outdoor adventures. Raft or kayak through the raging white water of the mighty Kern River; battle a rainbow or golden trout, literally a stone's throw from your room; behold the majesty of the huge Sequoia Grove "Walk of a Hundred Giants", just a short scenic drive up river; ride a mountain bike or hike over one of the many wilderness trails; enjoy the exhilaration of mountain or rock climbing and repelling at the nearby "Slabs", Dome Rock or Needles.
If your idea of activity is just to relax - Whispering Pines can be your personal sanctuary. Many of our guests prefer to close the door, get a fire roaring in the hearth, curl up with a good mystery novel and sip complementary gourmet renown coffees. Or, you may decide to view a new HBO movie while thinking about tomorrow's fishing trip.
The quaint town of Kernville is just a short, casual stroll away. While browsing the charming village shops, antique and art displays you can rejuvenate in the lush green riverside parks, letting your cares drift away with the Kern's flow into Lake Isabella.

How to get to Whispering Pines

Whispering Pines is located just north of Kernville on the banks of the Wild and Scenic Kern River. The Kern Valley's most easily accessible via Highway 178 from either the west or east.
Travelers arriving from the west can take Interstate 5 to Highway 99 into Bakersfield, where they will link up with Highway 178 and head east toward the scenic Kern River Canyon, it's wild flowers and flowing lower river. Upon reaching the Valley, take Highway 155 north through Wofford Heights and on to Kernville while admiring the beautiful northern shore lake views.
Those choosing to arrive from the south can use Highway 14 through Palmdale and continue north through Mojave, linking up with Highway 178 before the town of Inyokern. An alternate route is Highway 395, which intersects with 14 after passing through Inyokern. At the junction of 178 off 14 travel west over Walker Pass and into the Kern Valley. Turn north on Sierra Way skirting the eastern shore of Isabella Lake and on pass the Kernville Airport as you approach Kernville.
Whispering Pines Lodge is awaiting your pleasure at 13745 Sierra Way, about a mile up river from where Kernville Road and Sierra Way meet.
