Not much to pick from in the Kern Valley, let alone Kelso Valley. I know some who couldn't get TV or even standard phone serve out that way.

The very limited choices available are expensive. Mediacom, if you can get it out there, is around $46 a month. That's if you can get a deal with them and then renegotiate before the deal runs out. They have a moratorium on new hook ups. When we signed up we were number 321 on the waiting list and it didn't look like any possible connection for a couple of years. (Till they lay more cable in a "couple of months".) We found some ways around that and the local office didn't like the way we went beyond them but we did get the connection, expensive but legal.

Satellite, whether Dish Network or Wild Blue (Also a dish) has three plans and the cheapest was around $40 but that was almost at dial up speeds. The fastest plan, if you want to call it that, was in the 80's.

AT&T / Contel are just about non-existent unless you live on top of one of their switch stations. They said it would be 3 to 4 years before Wofford Heights would have it because all their lines were tied up. Took us a full month to even have the office phone moved a quarter mile to a new office. Problem is Mediacom kept saying their cable will be expanded in a couple months. The phone company said they are the ones laying the cable...someone is BS'ing but try to find out who.

You might give them all a call and find out what the current status and prices are.

We know the aggravation everyone is going through with the "string and cans" communication system the valley has. Kelso is "up the creek" even more. Hope it changes for you soon. Good luck!
