This begins Canyon Connection's recognition of one of Lake Isabella's lesser known recreational activities, Lake Kayaking. We hope to expand information in this section as we acquire data regarding this exceptional fun pastime. If you would like to contribute any information or have preferences as to local info regarding this sport please contact us at: email@example.com. Any expertise is greatly appreciated as we are far from knowledgeable in this activity.
Some local friends have quietly related that one of their favorite off season pastimes is to paddle their kayaks out on the lake. At first I didn't see any real excitement in this sport. No rapids, eddies, rushing whitewater, whirling pool drops, or heart pounding action. But, as I found out, it's the serene, calm, nature experience, with like minded friends, that draws these outdoor loving people.
Imagine packing up your binoculars, camera, a picnic lunch and favorite beverage and leisurely paddling around and into the Audubon waterfowl and wildlife preserve area where the south fork of the Kern River and Lake Isabella join. Around 300 species of birds have been documented in this, and surrounding areas of Kern River Valley. Many can't be found in any other location in the world.
